Complaint Process

Filing at Complaint at CCC

At CCC, you have the right to raise concerns and have them addressed fairly. This page explains the types of complaints CCC handles, which process applies to your situation, and how to get started.

If you are unsure which process applies to your situation, contact Student Services at (928) 226-4323 and someone can point you in the right direction.

Non-Academic Complaints

The Student Complaint procedure covers complaints regarding college policy, infringement of student rights, and other problems dealing with college employees, services, and authorized college activities that are not already addressed by another specific procedure.

You have the right to raise a concern formally at any time. Filing a formal complaint is always an option, and doing so will not affect your standing at CCC.

In some situations, you may want to try to resolve the matter directly first. If you are comfortable doing so, speaking with the person involved or their supervisor can sometimes address a concern quickly. Those steps are available to you, but they are not required before submitting a formal complaint.

Not sure where to start?

If you have a concern or want to file a complaint, contact the Dean of Student Development. They will make sure your concern reaches the right person.

Formal Complaint Process

If your concern is not resolved through the informal process, you may submit a formal written complaint to the Dean of Student Development.

Important: You must begin the informal complaint process within 10 college working days of the alleged incident. Failure to begin within this timeframe constitutes a waiver of the complaint. Failure at any step to appeal to the next level within the specified timelines will be deemed acceptance of the decision rendered at that step, and there will be no further right of appeal.

Include the Following Information

  • Your name
  • The name of the employee involved, or the policy/procedure being challenged
  • A description of the situation
  • Date(s) of the incident(s)
  • The outcome or resolution you are seeking
  • Your signature

What Happens Next?
The Dean of Student Affairs will:

  • Review the complaint
  • Share the complaint with appropriate parties
  • Work with those involved to seek a resolution
  • Notify you of the outcome in writing

A response is generally provided within 10 college working days.

Appeal a decision

If you disagree with the outcome of the formal complaint process, you may appeal the decision.

Timeline
Appeals must be submitted within 10 college working days of receiving the formal complaint decision.

How to Appeal
Submit:

  • A copy of your completed complaint documentation
  • Any additional supporting information or evidence

Appeals should be sent to the Provost.

Review Process
The Provost will:

  • Review and investigate the complaint
  • Consider any supporting information
  • Issue a written decision

A decision is typically provided within 20 college working days.

Possible outcomes include:

  • Resolution of the complaint
  • Dismissal of the complaint
  • Other appropriate action

The Provost’s decision is final.
